Monitoring of human rights violations as of 16 September 2021:

✔#Astana⚡#ZHANBAYEVA Venera – On 15 September 2021, two unknown men while introducing themselves as Akimat staff looked for an activist at her previous workplace, which Venera had left over a week ago. Failing to find her there, the unknown men called Venera and asked her to meet them, without even identifying themselves.

– The reason for the search for the activist could be Venera’s social media posts about her intention to go to a peaceful rally soon.

✔#Aksay#West-Kazakhstan region:⚡#SAPIYEV Murat⚡#MUNASHEV KazhimuratOn 16 September 2021, investigator ZHUSUPKALIYEV Talgat summoned SAPIYEV Marat as a suspect and MUNASHEV Kazhimurat as a witness for interrogation to the Police Department.

– The investigator did not hand in the summons on purpose, but in violation of the law, photographed the summons and sent it to civil activists via messenger WhatsApp.

✔#Uralsk⚡#URAZBAYEV Amangeldy – On 6 September 2021 at a peaceful protest, Amangeldy was attacked by a “titushka” (a thug). The provocateur approached the activist from behind and punched him in the jaw. As a result of the attack Amangeldy sustained an injury to his jaw. Amangeldy believes that the man who beat him up was sent by the NSC/police to carry out a provocation against peaceful protesters.

On 11 September 2021, unlawful surveillance was set outside Amangeldy’s home. On that day, 11 September, activists in Uralsk were planning to organise a peaceful protest on the square against the forced vaccination of children from the coronavirus.
